Frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about EphemerisX's public sites.

About the sites#

No. EphemerisX sites are for study. They report what public FDA and SEC documents say and do not assess whether any drug works or is safe, or what any company is worth.

Are you affiliated with the FDA, the SEC or a drug company?#

No. EphemerisX is independent of the FDA, the SEC and every sponsor.

Where does the information come from?#

From public records only: FDA review documents, action letters, labels, advisory committee materials and Federal Register notices; Drugs@FDA and openFDA; and, for the SEC Ephemeris, company filings with the SEC. Every quote links to its source.

Is any text written by AI?#

The quotes are copied verbatim from the documents. The FDA drug record states that its pages are generated from EphemerisX's reading of the documents and that nothing on them is written by a language model.

How current is it?#

Each site shows when it was last checked: the Ephemeris in its stats strip and list footer, the Alzheimer's record on the home page and in Pending, and each drug page under its document table. Sources are checked at least weekly.

Reading the record#

The page number in a citation does not match the document. Why?#

Citations give the PDF page number, which your viewer counts from the first page of the file. The number printed on the page often differs. See PDF page numbers.

I can't find a quote in the PDF.#

If the citation says the page was scanned (OCR), your viewer's find may not see the text: read the page by eye. If the FDA has replaced the file, compare its fingerprint as described in Verify a document.

Why don't you list applications under review?#

Because the FDA does not publish them. See Pending applications.

What does “Record incomplete” mean?#

Some of the decision's documents are not loaded yet. The entry lists which ones; nothing is filled in by guesswork.

The Ephemeris map#

Why are some dots translucent?#

They are projected: placeholders for what queued documents will add once read. Solid dots are the built graph. See Build queue replay.

Why does a drug say “Graph behind”?#

New documents arrived after its graph was built. They join the graph at the next build. Open its row to see which documents are waiting (marked ○).

Why is a drug I expected missing, or “Listed only”?#

The Ephemeris grows by disease area. A drug appears as Listed only when its approval is known from Drugs@FDA but its documents have not been fetched yet. Drugs outside the areas being charted do not appear yet.

Can I save or share my view?#

The grouping is kept in the address (?by=). Selection, zoom and search are not. For one drug or company, share its own page. See Share links.

The map is slow on my device.#

The map draws thousands of dots. On older devices, close other tabs, or turn on your system's reduce-motion setting, which stops the animations. The list offers the same information as text.

Privacy and methods#

Do you use cookies or track me?#

No cookies and no personal identifiers. Page views and clicks are counted anonymously, and not at all if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. See Privacy and usage counts.

Does this documentation explain how the record is built?#

This documentation is a user guide: it explains how to use and read the public sites. Each site's Method page summarises how its pages are produced and what they cannot show.

I found a mistake. How do I report it?#

Note the page address, the quote and its citation, and contact EphemerisX through ephemerisx.com.
