Trace a deep research answer to its source
Follow one deep research answer from its summary to the FDA letter and SEC filing it quotes, and repeat a “not in” search yourself.
In this tutorial you will take one answer, What did the FDA's second letter object to? on Replimune's question web, and check it against the FDA's letter and Replimune's 8-K. It takes about five minutes.
Open the question#
Go to ephemerisx.com/research/deep-research/ and click the Replimune card.
On the web, find APR 2026 · What did the FDA's second letter object to?. Point at it: four connected questions stay dark, and the Shares evidence with panel lists them.
Click the question to open its page.
Follow one quote to the letter#
Under What the evidence shows, find the first quote: “unanimously determined data presented are insufficient to conclude substantial evidence of effectiveness”, followed by the chip FDA · Apr 10, 2026 · p. 1.
Scroll down to The passages quoted and find FDA Complete Response Letter, April 10, 2026 · page 1. The whole sentence is shown, with the quoted words highlighted.
Read the full sentence. The highlight should mean the same thing in context as it does in the answer. Here, the sentence also names who decided: the review team, supervisory leadership and Oncology Center of Excellence experts.
Click Open at the source → (or the chip itself). The FDA's letter opens at page 1 on download.open.fda.gov. Find the sentence on the page.
Follow a quote to the 8-K#
Back on the question page, find the 8-K quote: “Replimune disagrees with the FDA about whether the data set, upon which breakthrough therapy designation was awarded, is sufficient”, with the chip 8-K · Apr 13, 2026.
Click the chip, or Open at the source → under the passage. The filing opens on sec.gov. In most browsers it scrolls to the passage and highlights it; otherwise use your browser's find (Ctrl/⌘+F) with a few words of the quote.
Repeat a “not in” search#
Open ephemerisx.com/ask/replimune/?q=1: How did Replimune's 8-K characterize the FDA's concerns? Wait for the answer and its reasoning graph.
In the graph, click the dotted node Not in the 8-K (searched). The panel shows ∅ no match, whole document searched, and the terms searched for.
Click Source document → to open the 8-K, and search it for each term. None should appear.
What you checked#
- Each quote is in the source, word for word, at the place cited.
- Each quote means in context what the answer uses it to mean.
- The absence the answer reports is real: the words are not in the document.
These are the same checks every deep research answer passes before it is published. See How deep research is verified.
