Privacy and usage counts

What EphemerisX sites count, what they never collect, and how to opt out.

Last updated September 29, 2026

EphemerisX counts, anonymously, which pages are read and which features are used, to learn what is useful. This page describes exactly what is counted.

What is never collected#

  • No cookies, and nothing stored in your browser for tracking.
  • No IP addresses.
  • No user agent strings, account, or identifier of any kind.

What is counted#

On the Ephemeris and the Alzheimer's record, each action sends one small anonymous event:

  • a page view, with the referring site and any ?ref= tag;
  • use of features such as grouping, search, filters, opening an item, or following a source link;
  • on leaving a page, how far it was scrolled and how long it was on screen.

Each event also records your country (as reported by Cloudflare) and whether the device is mobile or desktop. Automated crawlers are ignored.

The FDA drug record and this documentation do not send usage events.

Opt out#

Turn on Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control in your browser. EphemerisX sites then send nothing.

A link can carry ?ref= (or ?utm_source=) so a publisher can see how many visits a post brought. The tag changes nothing on the page and identifies no one. See Tag a link with ref.

Documentation preferences#

If you choose light or dark mode in this documentation, the choice is saved in your browser so the next page opens the same way. It is never sent anywhere.
